We are a mixed year 3/4 class and aim to inspire every child's love of learning through our topic based curriculum and creative classrooms. This term our Topic is called ''The Sands of Time.' We will be learning all about Ancient Egypt.  This will include researching about Egyptian pharaohs, pyramids, mummification and tombs.  We will also be designing our own canopic jars, learning to write in hieroglyphics and creating our own pharaoh portraits.

Our topics will change 3 times per year and run on a two year cycle to enable us to cover all of the year 3/4 objectives. Children will be taught according to their abilities rather than their age enabling each of them to access their full potential.

We believe that working in partnership with parents is essential in order to provide the best education for children. Please use our blog and twitter page to keep up to date with the latest things we are doing in class. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to me. I am available every night after school or every Friday from 3.30-4.00 if you need a longer appointment.

Children will receive Literacy and Maths homework on alternate weeks. In addition to their Literacy/ Maths homework, they will receive a spelling/ times table task.Homework will be given out every Thursday and expected back in school the following Thursday. It is essential that children complete homework to a high standard every week and we appreciate your support with this.

Homework Project:

At the beginning of each term, children will be given a homework project to complete. We will then celebrate children's efforts with a homework showcase and awards presentations which parents will be invited to.

Children are expected to change their reading books independently. Please let us know if this is not happening. Reading is an essential part of learning so we hope that children read at home as much as possible. Please keep a log of their reading in the yellow reading diary and return this to school daily. We will also be sending home information about our new online reading scheme ‘Bug Club’ which we hope will inspire children to read even more.

Children are expected to have PE kit in school every day. Please make sure that your child has a plain white t-shirt, black PE shorts and trainers. Please remember that children must NOT wear earrings on their PE days.
